    M.Sc. Psychology

    Psychology is one of the subjects that has emerged as the core discipline to understand the complex dynamics of human behavior. It offers strategies to deal effectively with the various psychological and mental issues of mankind. The Post graduate Program in Psychology at the Chanakya University is designed to cater the academic and research needs. Acquiring a richer and deeper understanding of psychology can help people achieve insights into their own actions as well as a better understanding of other people.

    The Two Year (Four Semesters) course has Core subjects, Specialization subjects and Open electives. In addition, Foundation courses and Competence courses are the additional components that aim to strengthen personality, value inculcation and skill development.

    The course has three specializations namely Counseling/Clinical Psychology, Workplace Psychology, and Indian Psychology. The core and the Discipline courses provide a thorough grounding in theoretical and applied skills in Psychology by internships and projects related to the specialization.

    Career Opportunities:

    Clinical and Counseling psychology enables one to understand the dynamics of mental health issues and psychological problems. Students are provided with basic counseling skills, primary therapeutic techniques, symptoms & ethology of psychological disorders. A post-graduate with M.Sc. in counseling and Clinical Psychology will find employment opportunities in mental hospitals, psychiatric clinics, counseling centers and NGOs working in the area of counseling. An additional MPhil Degree in Clinical psychology from NIMHANS or other Central Institutions will enable one to set up their own practice centers.

    Workplace psychology provides an insight into dynamics of human behavior at the place of work both from the Management perspective as well as from the individual Perspective. The problems of work stress, work life balance, motivational issues of the employees on the one hand and Communication, leadership, performance appraisal, issues of gender discrimination, absenteeism, addiction problems are some of the course contents. The skills obtained through this course has the career opportunities at organizations as consultants, coaches, trainers in soft skills etc

    The Indian Knowledge system has been looked upon as an alternative knowledge system to understand the complexity of the modern world and to empirically scout and empirically validate the alternative strategies and techniques that were practiced/preached through the ancient scriptures. A person having interest in Indian Psychology finds a great potential in teaching and research in Indian Psychology.

    In addition, Post-Graduation Degree in Education is the eligibility for teaching Positions, and specific Government jobs in various departments like women & Child Welfare, Education, Health, Social Welfare, Labor, Forensic Science Laboratories etc.
